About Our Research Project

This PhD project investigates Electronic Health Records and their impact on meaningful work in healthcare.

Research Focus

This comprehensive study examines how Electronic Health Records (EHRs), particularly Norway's Helseplattformen, transform healthcare work and affect the meaningful experiences of healthcare professionals. We investigate four key dimensions of meaningful work: mastery, purpose, connection, and autonomy.

Why This Research Matters

Healthcare digitalization is accelerating globally, with systems like Helseplattformen becoming central to patient care delivery. Understanding this relationship is crucial because meaningful work is directly linked to:

  • Job satisfaction and professional wellbeing
  • Staff retention and reduced burnout
  • Quality of patient care and outcomes
  • Innovation and adaptation in healthcare delivery

Study Context

Our research focuses specifically on Central Norway's implementation of Helseplattformen, providing a unique opportunity to study the real-world impact of large-scale healthcare digitalization. Helseplattformen represents one of Europe's most ambitious healthcare IT projects, affecting thousands of healthcare professionals across hospitals, clinics, and primary care settings.
